Our Little Violinist

A little background for ya :)  Our family really enjoys the ministry of the Collingsworth Family, and our girls just LOVE watching their girls sing and play their violins!  Well, back at Christmas time, Gammy asked Katrina what she wanted for Christmas.  Her reply - a violin!  I admit I was a little skeptical and kind of brushed it off; but Gammy didn't.  She found a very reasonably priced violin and Katrina opened it up on Christmas morning...I wish you could have seen the pure joy on her face!
Now fast foward and we are now at her 1st violin recital!!  We didn't get started on the lessons right away, so she has now been taking lessons for 3 months.
Waiting for things to get underway...(just a little sidenote...the little Asian boy sitting by her was just the cutest thing playing his violin, his expressions were adorable!  He looked like a little man :)  Katrina however was NOT impressed by him.  She said he was messing with her flowers - so much so, she brought them back to us, halfway thru the recital!!  LOL

Playing her piece, "Mary had a Little Lamb."  She played it through twice.

There were a few flat notes from misplaced fingerings, but no squeaking!  YAY!  She did an excellent job!  We are just to-the-moon proud of her!!  I could tell when she was playing that she recognized she made a few mistakes, but had to keep going.  And from what I could tell, she really didn't exhibit any 'stage fright'  - she even looked out at her Gammy and Grampa and smiled while playing!

Daddy giving her a small bouquet right after she finished playing.  She was confused at first and thought they were for her teacher :)  She also has a very sharing heart!  On the way home, I told her I would put her flowers in a vase and place them in her room for her to enjoy.  She told me she would rather that I give her 3 flowers and put the rest on the kitchen table!  She was very adamant about only giving her 3!  I did put a few more in though :)  Such a sweetheart!

and a few "after" photos I asked Grampa to take!  Thanks Dad!  Also, debuting her glasses on the blog :)

So unbelievably proud of our girl!

LOVE the way she is looking at Daddy here!
With Aunt Angela....

A new favorite photo of my big girl!

And with her violin teacher, Mrs. Calderon!

Afterwards we all went out for ice-cream at Baskin Robbins :)

Katrina, Mommy and Daddy are SO proud of you Sweetheart!
