Gaylord Palms and Ice Palace

Yesterday we went to Orlando to see the ice sculptures at Gaylord Palms - WOW - it was amazing!
A group of 30 Chinese from Harbin, China come to Orlando and carve these magnificent sculptures! They carved with "clear" ice and "frosted" ice. The clear ice is frozen at a slower rate(3 days) to allow the water molecules to line up, producing the clear look. The frosted ice is frozen quickly(1 day), not allowing the molecules to line up, producing the frosted look. The coloring in the ice is just everyday food coloring!!
The total freezing process takes 3 months and the carving process takes 6 months!! The temperature is kept at 9* in the exhibit hall, so everyone must wear a blue parka to keep warm. Katie was adorable in hers and walked around like a penguin - SO cute!!
Katrina thoroughly enjoyed the ice and the ice slide!! They had 3 slides, all at different heights - Jaron and I slid down the tallest slide :)
After being in this warm Florida climate, the cold felt good again - never thought I would say I was happy to be cold!!!! :)
